A little over a month ago I was approached by Crystal about doing a fun shoot with a group of friends. She was closing on 30. She was not engaged. She was not married. In a fight against social norms and the societal pressure of getting married, she decided to celebrate a different kind a love. In her life she has so many great friends and that are close and dear to her heart and that friendship is the love she wanted to celebrate.
We set a date, picked a location and anxiously awaited the “Un-Engagement” shoot. The morning arrived and a “ragtag bunch of misfits” arrived with little idea what was in store for them. While Crystal was busy with something in the car, the rest of the gang asked me what the plan was. Crystal had only told them to be there for a photoshoot. In fact, she really had no “plan”. This is never a problem for me. Every pro photographer needs to be ready to go with the flow and put a creative, fun photo session together on the fly. To my benefit, all these friends were highly creative people involved in creative and dramatic arts. The shoot was a ton of fun and silliness.
We spent a good 90 minutes or so shooting and posing just for the fun of it. They did what they did naturally, and I added my photographer’s point of view to capture great friendships and great memories. Here are a few photos from the shoot. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
